After: The original kitchen was closed off from the other rooms, but the renovation created a more fluid space, with a pocket door that can separate it if needed.

The couple purchased the wide leather sofa from HD Buttercup secondhand off Facebook Marketplace. The coffee table is another Saasaan piece, while the side chair is from Big Daddy's Antique and the arc lamp is from BASA Vintage.

A bank of custom storage along one wall is very functional for the family, including children’s art supplies, cleaning tools, and a counter for serving during a party.

The kitchen was expanded in the remodel, and outfitted in Ikea cabinets with Semihandmade fronts painted sage green and CB2 half moon pulls. The counters are Corian Snow Flurry, and the new patio door is aluminum clad wood from Jeld Wen. A panel ready Fisher Paykel refrigerator is to the right of the stove.

Storage was vital for this young family, and the design team incorporated it wherever they could. Though the space is relatively compact, smartly programmed walls of cabinetry—like the one that runs through the hallway room from a work station to the main bedroom—make it simple to keep clutter out of sight.

Three-quarter partitions divide up the colorful, tiled bathroom into zones. Light pours through the skylight. “It’s a very hardworking little room,” says Dovey. “It’s my favorite place in the house.” Sandblasted glass creates privacy, without sacrificing light.

An internal window creates a visual connection between the living area and the dining room, and also allows the wood-burning fireplace to easily heat the whole space.

Carrara marble waterfalls around the dining bench. “That played into the whole thing of trying to use as few materials as possible,” says Schlesinger, and lighten up the interior.

The sofa with a storage cubby is by Blu Dot, the pillow is Hay, and the tiled green wallpaper is by Drop It Modern.

Rounded, sculptural fixtures resonate with the soft curve of the segmental arches.

Instead of adding counter space on both sides of the kitchen, Wooden opted for floor-to-ceiling cabinets, which provide ample storage space and help keep the kitchen tidy. A center island provides additional storage, prep space, and a breakfast bar. At the back, a classic black panel window and patio door lead to the family's outdoor space while bringing much-needed natural light into the formerly dark kitchen.

Built-in benches provide plenty of storage and reduce the need for free-floating furniture.
