Home Design Photos and Ideas

An unlikely modernist home in Columbus, Indiana.
A window nook is used as a study desk in the bedroom.
The lanai just off the living room and accessible to the kitchen.
A wall of glass in a flex room.
The deck and pergola appear to be a natural extension of the home.
The roof's overhang also employs paneled Siberian larch.
Just a 45-minute drive from Los Cabos International Airport, Amanvari offers an atypical experience in a truly surreal landscape. From sailing and fishing to diving with whales, going for a dip under waterfalls to exploring ponds with a resident biologist, this is the ultimate getaway for explorers who are also looking for some serious R&R in a private sanctuary.
Comprised of linked pavilions, the home feels porous and well-connected with nature.
The building is kept low to the ground, so you can step directly from the house into the garden.
First and foremost, the home was designed to be a comfortable family home.
The simple details create a classic but modern look.
Manz, recommends a 5 mm or 8 mm solid stainless steel countertop for a floating look. The floating look is made possible from a shadowed panel which is placed under the surface approximately 20 mm from the countertop edge.
An oversized mahogany door provides a grand entrance to the complex.
Even the bedrooms integrate the outdoor spaces into the design.
A terrace sits quietly against the water, not quite indoors and not quite outdoors.
The dining area opens to the pool which overlooks the ocean.
An interior, custom-made steel staircase with floating treads and a minimal handrail, lead to the roof deck above.
London-based studio AMA uses perforated solid steel plates to transform this five-story Georgian terrace house in Belgravia into a creative, contemporary home that encourages interesting play of light and shadow.
On both floors, large windows bring the outdoor scenery in, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior.
An opaque glass wall which extends the length of the tub, allows filtered light into the bath space. All white elements allow the light to reflect, creating a bright interior.
In the dining room, there’s a Poul Henningsen pendant, a Hans Wegner table, and Ward Bennett Landmark chairs.
Julie and Chris Hill’s home in Austin is built around a pair of massive oak trees, one of which shoots through an ipe deck, past a Loll deck chair, and into a void in the overhanging roof. “The hole also allows light to penetrate deeper into the house,” notes designer Kevin Alter. A limestone brick wall mirrors the curves of the Western red cedar roof, the edges of which are coated in stucco.
A second aperture in the roof is located over the shallow end of the pool. An alfresco dining area, with seating by Kettal, is perched a few steps below.
In the master bath, the architect managed to combine privacy and a view by adding a horizontal-line pattern to the glass wall.
